Delta runs Linux on their planes
got this during a trip to Las Vegas this past weekend, these are the screens attached to the back of the seats

many airlines with personal entertainment systems for passengers these days run Linux. DEBIAN and most probably KNOPPIX
I was flying from one of those small airplanes from smaller planes, the kinds of planes where the cockpit is only separated from the passenger deck by a curtain. I was able to peek into the flight deck in mid air and to my surprise they were rebooting WIN NT 4.0 on their on flight computer. Once loaded, it showed the GPS.
